Blueberries - Better Performance

Blueberries are a real superfood.

They are essential for the performance of your brain and linked to reducing the risk of numerous diseases.

The benefits and the right dosage at a glance

Blueberries have one of the highest cellular antioxidant activities compared to not only most fruits, but also amongst most regularly consumed foods.

Anthocyanins are the pigment compounds that give these sweet berries their characteristic purple-blue color. They are responsible for a large portion of the antioxidant richness of blueberries. Like many other antioxidants, blueberry anthocyanins have a variety of benefits for brain health, cardiovascular function and immune health

Sounds too good to be true? All that remains is the question of how many blueberries men should consume daily to benefit from these effects.

The correct dosage of blueberries (anthocyanins) supplements (NRV)

In the European Union, and consequently also in Germany, Austria and to some extent Switzerland, there are no nutrient reference values (NRV) for the intake of anthocyanins or blueberries

However, the probability that you do not take these anthocyanins, as they are found in blueberries, in the sufficient dosage is very high. While studies are still limited, it has been indicated that most people only consume about 12.5 mg of anthocyanins per day.

The German Nutrition Society (DGE) or the United Kingdom's National Health Service (NHS) recommends eating five servings of fruits and vegetables daily. Yet, one in ten adults does not eat an adequate amount. One fruit serving would be two handfuls of blueberries! But who among us truly eats that many blueberries?

However, since antioxidants help protect the body from cellular damage caused by environmental pollution (urban pollution), household toxins, and other stressors, their intake could be very important.

The benefits of Blueberries and anthocyanins

Unlike many other nutrients, anthocyanidins have the ability to cross the blood-brain barrier, which may explain the direct correlation between anthocyanin consumption and the improved cognitive function.

Research shows that anthocyanins may actually have a neuroprotective benefit in the brain as they protect the brain from toxins, inflammation, and cellular injury.

This combination of protection and improvement of our brain health may lead to numerous cognitive benefits in men:

  • Performance: Reduces muscle inflammation and stress after exercise and provides faster muscle recovery. According to NOUMEN's philosophy: maximum performance, fast recovery.
  • Concentration and focus: Research shows that long-term intake of blueberries may increase cognitive performance. Thus, our memory may improve.

  • Diabetes Prevention: Anthocyanidins are associated with improved insulin sensitivity.

  • Cardiovascular system: Improved cardiovascular health, such as better cholesterol levels, improved blood pressure levels and a 32% reduction in the risk of heart attack.

  • Well-being: Improved overall health as the antioxidant activity of blueberries provides overall protection against cellular damage associated with disease, aging and more.

Wusste wirklich nicht, dass Blaubeeren so ein cooles Superfood sind! Meistens lest man von anderen exotischen Früchten, aber wenig von Heimischen. Dann heißt es wohl ab sofort mehr Blaubeeren essen 👌
